Weird questions

by - August 14, 2018

As we all know kids are always loaded with questions, many of them are the most weirdest ones. They love asking and we hate answering especially the weird ones.

Why so?

Because we don't have an answer and we don't want to accept it. 😑

May be once upon time, when there is no definition for gravity. "Why do apple falls?", could have been considered as the weirdest question too. Newton wouldn't have created the definition for gravity, if that question has not raised in his mind. So, no question is useless/ weirdest. It's just that we didn't give it a thought.

Even when we were kids, we had loads and loads of questions. Many of the time we had asked them out of curiosity. If it is a well known fact, we will surely get an answer. Otherwise, not only the question be left unanswered. We became a child who irritates & who annoys our parents. Unfortunately, we repeat the same with our kids.

Why we always think that we need to answer our children. Why can't  it be an other way round? Why don't we encourage them to find an answer for their own questions? Why we need to demotivate them from asking their questions? They may end up in finding/ not finding their answer. But, definitely they won't be demotivated.

It's good to prove that you are knowledgeable but don't ever use the technique of pointing their question as weird ones. How do you know it's weird? Instead, spend some time to get an answer. May be you could help them. Everyone of us want our child to be a Scientist, to be a Researcher. But what is our contribution. Earning money and spending for their studies. Is that mean your contribution?

Then tell me, why can't you be a Scientist? 😏

"When I was a kid, I had this question. Sun is the brightest star and why it can't lit up the space. Eventually, I got an answer. Not from the text book or not from any elders. I happened to find the answer when I was playing with a torch and I didn't know the real terms like intensity and other Physic terms. But I got an experimental answer, how torch can't lit up the entire room, Sun can't lit up the space. That's the power of brain, you don't need to constantly think about something to get an answer. Put that in your brain and listen to your brain. You will get your answer for sure. I am a grown up person now. But I always have many weirdest questions. Many have laughed at me, many teachers can't answer my question. I will keep adding it to my mind. I am sure that I will get an answer because I am not weird. "

This is my thought.

1. Don't ever get annoyed or irritated towards
your child for being loaded with weird question
2. Listen to your child's question clearly, ask your doubts and put that in your mind. May be you can find the answer first
3. Don't ever impose your understanding on your child. Everyone has brain but that doesn't mean they have same power. Everybody has mouth, but that doesn't mean everyone has same voice.

Thanks for reading. Reading is a great habit.
